The Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education offers a number of opportunities such as weekly seminars, monthly student colloquia, tutoring and mentoring opportunities, and an annual conference on urban education. If you attend all the seminars in a series, you can receive a certificate. The tutoring and mentoring opportunities provide a great chance to get experience and do good at the same time. Xopc29.org will post announcements from the XCMTE with all the details. For now, go to the link above and check them out.

I have set up a wiki which you can use to collaborate on any class project in any class. This is the link to WORKSPACE. The wiki is open, so you do not have to register. Just start working. I have contacted the people from whom I get my webspace. They said it was a problem with the DNS not pointing to the site all the time. They have fixed it.

I have received an e-mail message from the Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education and they are in desperate need of tutors. Here is the message:

The Xerox Center for Multicultural Teacher Education is looking for
volunteers who would be willing to tutor at East High school on Tuesdays
and/or Thursdays from 2-3:15. We are particularly looking for individuals
who have cars and would possibly be willing to carpool. If you think you
are interested, please contact me as soon as possible at xmte@geneseo.edu

If you look to the menu, you will see that there is a blog (WordPress). Any registered user can use it to blog or read or comment. Feel free to use it, read it, or comment on anything remotely related to education or your life as an educator. Contact me at rxscabin at gmail.com to get one. There is a massive amount of storage space (where you can also save attached files), a very convenient address book, an easy folder system, and access to google talk (their new chat and internet phone system). Substitute @ for at in the e-mail address. I use it for my "non-official" mail. Plus, it's free.

I have 100 invitations to gmail. Contact me if you want one. It has a massive amount of storage, 'searchability', classifying and filtering, and the spam filter is top notch.
