Here are a list of links for blogs that other students have made in the past for other classes. Click on read more to see them. Some are better than others. All meet the bare requirements of our assignment; some go beyond.
As far as the core reading assignment is concerned, it is described in the syllabus. However, to sum it up, I want you to bring me a title of some type of reading from your content area (a textbook chapter, a magazine article, a website, or something else that is relatively short, involves content reading and learning). You will provide the selection itself at a later date. This selection will be around what you center the strategies you discuss in your portfolio for this class. Take another look at our syllabus to see more detail; it can be found in the section about the portfolio assignment. I have excerpetd the pertinent part of the description below. Click more to see the rest.
I am interested in having the best, most accessible look for this site. Please vote in the poll and tell me which look you like better.

It was pointed out to me in a very nice, professional way that I neglected to do with the first two chapters of our textbook what I said should be done: "pre-teach" vocabulary. Here is what I said, Quote:
I guess it is an example of what happens when someone has "expertise" in a subject. It seems like such a natural topic and field of knowledge that you just forget that everybody doesn't have the same knowledge. Good point. I don't think that I have to wait for the next time I teach 215; I can do it for the rest of the semester. After all, I do it in the other classes I teach, usually.
